What is your approach to photography?
Subtle smiles, laughter, hands on shoulders… these are the little moments I look to capture when working with families. I am a lifestyle photographer. This means I create images that are relaxed, authentic and centered on capturing movement, emotion and connection.
I use a documentary approach and allow moments to unfold naturally whenever possible, while being intentional about spaces and lighting. I give prompts and poses when helpful and use flash when necessary. I am thoughtful about the post production processing of images, and carefully edit each photo using a timeless, true color aesthetic. I also edit and deliver a black and white version of each image for portraits and weddings.
When will we receive our photos?
No one wants you to see your photos more than I do! When I return home from our session I load your files and take a quick look through, pulling out a few favorites to send along to you within 48 hours. Your files then go into my editing queue. Depending on how busy I am it usually takes 3-6 weeks to receive your full gallery. I know in today’s world that can seem like an eternity! But I am often working with thousands of images each week and I want to give each one the time and care it deserves. At the time of service I will give you an estimate of when you can expect your final images.
Do you travel?
Yes, within the state of Maine. I have photographed weddings, events and families from Kennebunkport to Mount Desert Island and many locations in-between. I primarily work in Greater Portland and Midcoast, Maine, and travel within 25 miles of Freeport is included. Travel fees may apply for greater distances and typically range from $40-$60. For safety and logistics, overnight accommodations may be necessary for locations 2+ hours from Freeport.
Are you insured?
Yes! *It is important to note that many venues require photographers to provide proof of insurance.
Do you use Photoshop?
Only when necessary. I carefully edit your photos using Lightroom and rarely need to use Photoshop. I may use Photoshop to remove an excessive distraction that cannot be addressed in Lightroom, or to create a composite image. If you are wondering about retouching, I can remove or soften blemishes like acne in portraits, but I do not offer body altering or extensive retouching services.
Why don’t you use social media?
The simple answer is, I choose to market my business in other ways. Running a values based business is important to me, and one of my values is being intentional about the time I spend in front of screens. I also believe in community service and each year I donate services to local non-profits and community groups. These donations give visibility to my business while keeping my time and resources within my local community. Recent organizations include: Through the Trees, Brightfield School, People’s Plus, and the Freeport High School senior class.
Do you offer mini sessions or discounts?
I carefully price my services to maximize value for clients. If my schedule allows, I will occasionally offer discounts, promotions or last minute openings to E-mail subscribers. To learn more about current offerings, please sign up using the link below.
My approach to photographing families requires time. I do not offer mini sessions but I have some trusted colleagues who do and I’d be happy to refer you!
